Golf Fore Life Charity Tournament
Youth In Transition welcomes you to join us for our Golf Fore Life Charity Tournament which is now taking place on 24th February 2022 on the world-class golf course at Gulf Harbour Country Club on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula.
Grassroots funding
Did you know that Youth in Transition receives NO government funding? We rely entirely on fundraising, donations, charitable grants, and the amazing support from our community to provide lifesaving support to our local young people.
FujiFilm donation
Thanks To FujiFilm for donating a years supply (of very expensive) ink toner for our printer. And to our IT expert Clive Biddulph for organizing it.
Weighted blanket plus bonus cookies
Long time supporter and friend of Youth In Transition Susan DeSpa has donated a weighted blanket and baked some cookies recently for YIT. Weighted blankets are extremely therapeutic and comforting for many young people.
Golf Fore Life - Save the Date
Following a successful event in early 2020, Youth In Transition is delighted to announce its 2021 Golf Fore Life Charity Tournament which takes place in October on the world-class golf course at Gulf Harbour Country Club on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula.
Generousity and golf
Youth in Transition were absolutely thrilled to receive this wonderful donation raised from the Oceanbridge Annual Charity Golf Day last week. It was an overwhelming gift for us to receive and which will be put towards tangible benefits reaching our 300+ young people currently experiencing our services.
LifeKeepers National Suicide Prevention Awards
We are delighted to announce that our Director Tina Jones was nominated by the Waitemata DHB and has been awarded for her outstanding contribution to suicide prevention in our community.
16 Guidelines workshop
The Youth In Transition crew along with some extras recently joined for a learning experience in the Coromandel at the beautiful Mahamudra centre. The stress and worries of Auckland felt a long way away and the friendly volunteers made for a beautiful weekend.
Mentoring Programme Launching
We are very excited to let you know that we are getting ready to launch our new youth mentoring programme – Coast Mentoring! We know there are a number of young Coasties out there who could do with a mentor to support them on their journey. That’s why CYC Trust and Youth In Transition have teamed up to introduce this programme to our community.
Recognition for Youth In Transition Director & Co-Founder
We are thrilled to share the news that our Director and Co-Founder, Tina Jones, is a recipient of the 2020 National Lifekeepers Awards for outstanding suicide prevention work in the community. The LifeKeepers Awards are designed to recognise the often heroic but unacknowledged commitment of individuals like Tina, who persevere with efforts and work which make a vital contribution to suicide prevention.
Call for mentors!
We are very excited to let you know that we are now close to the launch of our new youth mentoring programme – Coast Mentoring! Coast Mentoring will connect young Coasties with an adult Coastie mentor – we are all about “Coasties mentoring Coasties.”
New referrals on the rise
Since lockdown ended, we have had well over 50 new referrals for our services, and the number continues to climb as the longer-term impact of the situation comes into play.
Raffle for The Hope Shop
The Hope Shop is currently running a RAFFLE to help raise funds for the Mentoring Programme. To buy tickets, please pop into the Shop or the Youth In Transition offices, both in Manly.
Merv on the move
One of our fabulous Trustees, Merv Huxford, recently turned a personal challenge into a fundraising opportunity for Youth In Transition.
Office makeover
Before lockdown, we had plans to add a new counselling room, and with the huge increase in referrals this became top priority once contractors were allowed back into the building. We are thrilled with the result and we are indebted to everyone who contributed time and materials to make this happen!
Fundraising update
It really is tremendous to experience all of this community love and support!
Jess Dyson - Eating Well
Jess Dyson was our guest speaker in July. Jess holds a Bachelor of Social Work and is currently completing a post graduate study in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. She has completed specialised training in a number of Eating Disorder treatments and trainings around body image.
Group art evening
We have some very talented young artists in the group who were keen to personalise and create art work for YIT. It was the groups decision to paint art pieces that would create, not only a calming visual effect in this space, but, encourage discussion and inspiration in therapy sessions.
Celebrate The Hope Shop’s 1st birthday with us!
What a wonderful journey it has been over the past year! When we first opened last July, we were a ‘pop up shop’, and never imagined that we would still be here 12 months later! We are so grateful for the support, enthusiasm and love shown by our Hope Shop community.
Golf Fore Life fundraiser
The recent Golf Fore Life fundraiser at Titirangi Golf club was one of our most successful fund-raising events yet!
