Fundraising update
One of our trustees Merv Huxford completed a sterling bike ride recently which proved to be a significant fundraiser for Youth in Transition.
Our local Op shop in Manly, The Hope Shop is continuing to be a huge success. Since it’s opening on 6th July 2019, we have raised over $25,000, which is awesome. On Saturday 4th July we celebrated its first birthday and ran a raffle raising $800 towards our mentoring project.
We are making good progress with the joint CYC Trust Coast Mentoring Programme. Caitlin Watson has been employed to co-ordinate this. We have partnered with Upside Mentoring who are a well-established youth mentoring organisation to assist us in delivering the program. Already 20 local mentors have signed up for the program.
In July we received a substantial grant from the Lindsay Foundation which will be life changing for many of your young people. In addition we received a major donation from local businessman and long-term YIT supporter Barnie Bredl which is a wonderful partner and supporter. We also received grants from BlueSky Community Trust and United Way NZ which helped us navigate the first and second wave of Covid 19 pressures.
The Inner Wheel Ladies group and local Lions have continued to support us financially and during July we enjoyed meeting with them. In addition, the husbands of the Millwater Ladies group known as ‘The Romeos’ are hosting a fundraising game show to assist us in November.
It really is tremendous to experience all of this community love and support!
