Recognition for Youth In Transition Director & Co-Founder

We are thrilled to share the news that our Director and Co-Founder, Tina Jones, is a recipient of the 2020 National Lifekeepers Awards for outstanding suicide prevention work in the community. The LifeKeepers Awards are designed to recognise the often heroic but unacknowledged commitment of individuals like Tina, who persevere with efforts and work which make a vital contribution to suicide prevention.

Tina has focussed her work in the suicide prevention space on supporting young people, and co-founded Youth In Transition in 2016, with a mission to reduce youth suicide and provide our young people with the resources to help them get back into a life worth living. Tina and the team at Youth In Transition have supported hundreds of young people over the years, alongside their families, caregivers and friends.

Andrew Hoggard, Chair of the Youth In Transition Board of Trustees adds: “Tina, your work has far reach and creates such positive change for the future. The legacy you are creating is paving the way for future generations, delivering hope in times of uncertainty. Thank you for all that you do.”

Huge congratulations Tina from all of the Youth In Transition Team!

Increasing Demand for our Services

Our services continue to be in great demand. The current Covid 19 situation is having a dramatic and negative effect on our young people, with more young people than ever reaching out for help. We currently have 222 young people in our program, with a further 58 who have reached out for help and we have had to turn away due to lack of resources. This is extremely heart breaking for us, and we are actively trying to grow our counselling resources to meet these escalating needs of young people in our community.

We ask you to consider if you can help us in any way. If you or your family is able to contribute financially, or if you are comfortable sharing this letter with extended family, friends, or colleagues, we would love you to ask for their support, ideas and input. Who knows what will pop out of the blue. There may be people out there wanting to help – we just haven’t met them yet!

We are putting this out there, our plea for help, for funding that will help us achieve our goal – the resources that are so urgently needed to fund an additional specialist counsellor to help our young people. As a charity, we are able to provide receipts for all donations, for tax-deductibility.

We would also welcome offers of skills or expertise you have that would assist us: either as an individual (perhaps as a mentor, sports or craft enthusiast…), or as a professional (for example: personal trainer, life-skills coach, artist….). We need help, and you may be just the one to help us find some solutions.

Kim Manunui

Hi, I’m Kim and I work with a great team to help individuals, as well as small and not so small businesses get their message, product and services to the world using digital media and creating wonderful websites that don’t cost the earth.

I was born in Canada, and grew up around Vancouver and the mountains of British Columbia. My love of pristine environments led me to New Zealand and eventually to the mountains, lakes and rivers of the central North Island which is home. My family’s heritage is here, and it’s from here that Korio traverses the planet.

The digital world is never static and neither are we.

And I say ‘we’ because I work with an awesome group of talented people who I gather together as required to complete a project.  Whatever your business, not-for-profit or individual needs are we gather the best team to get the job done.

Collaboratively we are creative, share sustainable values and work hard for great outcomes because that’s the buzz of satisfaction that drives us.

If you have an audience and market to reach, we can make that happen. Creative design, words that work and smart behind the scenes stuff that cuts through the online noise. We’ll design your website and then build it. We’ll manage the content as well as all your hosting needs. We can handle your online advertising so you get noticed,
and we’ll manage your social media presence so you get the clicks, likes and engagement to grow your business. All within the budget you set, because none of this needs to cost the earth.  And the job doesn’t stop when your website goes live. We are your virtual business partner.
