Volunteer evening for The Hope Shop Volunteers
On Wednesday 31st August the Youth in Transition team got together with the hope shop volunteers for an evening get-together.
New staff member - welcome Kiera Hughes
We welcome our new counselor, Kiera to the YIT team (started 25th Aug). Kiera is passionate to work with children and young people who need support, empathy, and a listening ear without feeling judged. She has a Person-Centred approach and is experienced in Creative Expression.
Art activities at the Estuary Arts Centre
A number of our young people have been attending the art activities held by the Estuary Arts Centre in Orewa on Thursdays from 1pm to 4pm. Our life coach, Nat Fox, narrates that the participants are not only learning new skills but are bonding and supporting each other.

Book in your tree collection
If you live on the Hibiscus Coast and celebrated with a real tree this Christmas, our friends at Tree Solutions can once again help you out! They will collect your tree after you've finished with it, in exchange for a donation to their annual fundraiser, with funds being split between Youth In Transition and other fantastic Coast charity, Love Soup.

Since our last update, we have endured over 100 days of lockdown in Auckland. While we understand the rationale behind the lockdowns, there is no escaping the fact that they intensify the challenges faced by our clients, the young people in our communities from the North Shore, across Rodney, the Hibiscus Coast, and up to Warkworth.
Chenery Memorial Trust Donation
We were delighted to receive a lovely letter from the Chairman of the Chenery Memorial Trust letting us know that they are giving us a grant this month to help fund counselling costs for our Journey Back to Awesome programme.
What a wonderful gift this is just before Christmas, when we are so very busy supporting our many young people and their families to navigate ever-more challenges to their wellbeing.
Perpetual Guardian Donation
The Estate of Ernest Hyam Davis & The Ted and Mollie Carr Endowment Trust, proudly managed by Perpetual Guardian recently gave a donation to YIT. This donation is a wonderful boost to our work, with so much more help currently needed for our young people.
Wonderful gift of a Cashmere shawl
We would like to say a HUGE thank you to Cara Cashmere for their wonderful gift of a Cashmere shawl…our Director Tina Jones was gifted this gorgeous wrap for her birthday which she absolutely loves and when Cara Cashmere heard about our charity they gifted another to be auctioned at our Golf Day fundraiser and auction to raise funds to help our young people.
Auckland Foundation
A big thanks to the Auckland Foundation. We are thrilled to be recipients of this fund, which is going to help us enormously. The past few months have been an extremely difficult for many due to the pandemic, and our charity has certainly been no exception. We thank you sincerely Auckland Foundation for your valued support and belief in our organisation and in the precious young people at the heart of our work.

Grassroots funding
Did you know that Youth in Transition receives NO government funding? We rely entirely on fundraising, donations, charitable grants, and the amazing support from our community to provide lifesaving support to our local young people.

Thanks To FujiFilm for donating a years supply (of very expensive) ink toner for our printer. And to our IT expert Clive Biddulph for organizing it.
Weighted blanket plus bonus cookies
Long time supporter and friend of Youth In Transition Susan DeSpa has donated a weighted blanket and baked some cookies recently for YIT. Weighted blankets are extremely therapeutic and comforting for many young people.
Golf Fore Life - Save the Date
Following a successful event in early 2020, Youth In Transition is delighted to announce its 2021 Golf Fore Life Charity Tournament which takes place in October on the world-class golf course at Gulf Harbour Country Club on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula.
