SafeTALK reaches our community once again
In August, Caroline from A-OK presented the internationally recognised workshop SafeTALK to 35 people at Whangaparaoa Primary.
Coastie Christmas – coming soon!
A Very Coastie Christmas is happening again this year in Whangaparaoa to bring everyone together to celebrate, have fun and showcase what a great community we’re part of. On Sunday 8th December 12.30-3pm, various fun activities will be taking place such as face painting and bubble blowing for the kids, live music, stalls to browse and food to enjoy.
Keeping warm thanks to the Lion Foundation
Thanks to the amazing support and generous grant from The Lion Foundation, all of our counselling team and young people will be warm at the Youth in Transition premises very soon.

Our counselling team recently spent time with Mary Ashby-Green, when they learned all about the counselling and coaching tool Colournostics.
Extended hours for The Hope Shop TOMORROW !
Put a Spring in your step! Tomorrow, Tuesday 3rd September, The Hope Shop is open for extended hours! Come and visit us from 10.30am – 2.30pm to browse our great selection of clothing, shoes and accessories for the whole family.
Having a splashing time
Thank you to our three local Rotary Clubs of Orewa, Whangaparaoa and Orewa/Millwater Satellite for their donation of $1000 following the second annual Generation Homes RotarySwimarathon in our community in June.
Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre Donate Memberships
Our grateful thanks to Matt Burden and the team at the leisure centre who have been extremely generous to Youth in Transition donating gym memberships for our young people.
We celebrate the opening of The Hope Shop
Saturday 6th July 2019 was a day to remember for the Youth in Transition community. It was the day The Hope Shop came to life, with its very special opening event in Manly village. The project was the vision of a small group of passionate Youth in Transition supporters, with the specific goal of raising money for the charity.
Pub Charity Grant
We are thrilled to share the good news that Youth In Transition has been successful in the latest funding round from Pub Charity Limited. Their substantial grant is a significant and much-needed boost to our limited financial resources.
Knitting Night
Youth In Transition is knitting a blanket! The Blanket will consist of one hundred squares of hand-knitted sections. Whoever uses it is sure to feel the love and warmth put into every stitch.
Youth in Transition boosted by Rotary
We enjoyed a fun quiz night in May, organised jointly by Rotary Orewa and Rotary Satellite Orewa-Millwater, which raised an amazing $2,200 for Youth in Transition.
MTF Get Moving Festival
The MTF Silverdale Get Moving Festival is back for another year. Why not start your 2020 of feeling fit and healthy, with run/walk options for all ages and fitness levels! The best part, each entry contributes towards helping youth in our community, as $1 from each entry will be donated to Youth In Transition!
The Hope Shop Opens
The Hope shop opened on Saturday July 7 to a great and enthusiastic crowd in Manly Village. Positioned just across the road from Youth in Transition this pop up op shop is a community effort for its young people.
Inner Wheel Donation
Inner Wheel New Zealand is a part of International Inner Wheel, one of the world’s largest women’s voluntary service organisations with over 100,000 members in approximately 4000 clubs in over 100 countries worldwide with Representatives in the United Nations.
We made a splash at the Rotary Swimarathon 2019
In another herculean effort, Youth In Transition swimmers once again failed to avoid being lapped by the adjacent children’s team of swimmers. However, with the help of our sideline cheerleaders none of the team drowned and we managed to exceed expectations and complete 115 laps (almost 900 meters per swimmer).
Inner Harmony: Stress less – naturally
The team at Youth In Transition last night had a great time meeting and talking with Kerry Douglas-Wilkinson owner of Inner Harmony: Stress less – naturally. She gave a great presentation and discussion about neurochemistry and endocrinology (the brain, nervous and hormonal systems) and how stress and anxiety can affect these systems and thus affect our mental and physical health.

Studio 38: Empowered Connections with Cath Vincent
Empowered Connections For Action was an incredible evening! Cath Vincent and her energetic team at Studio 38 in Auckland generously hosted an evening of fellow business owners and leaders from the community, bringing them all together specifically to support Youth in Transition.
