Having a splashing time
Thank you to our three local Rotary Clubs of Orewa, Whangaparaoa and Orewa/Millwater Satellite for their donation of $1000 following the second annual Generation Homes Rotary Swimarathon in our community in June. The Rotary Clubs raised sufficient sponsorship to ensure that every cent of every dollar raised by the swimmers is donated to various local charities, and Youth In Transition was thrilled to be selected as one of these. The event was open to all, with fun sessions for mums & bubs through to children, adults and grandparents, plus competitive options. A swim team from Youth in Transition, led by Grayson Nipper, was just one of the 53 teams that swam on Sunday 30th June.
Save the date: The next event will be held on Sunday 28th June 2020!
Thank you to Rotary for their continued support.
Chair of the 2019 event, Rotarian Brian Mullan, is seen here presenting the cash award to Tina Jones, with Grayson Nipper looking on.
This year’s Swimarathon was a great fundraising success, over twenty thousand dollars was raised by the community. Youth In Transition received a generous donation check of one thousand dollars. Many extra awards were given out but the stand out for me was the swim team Happy Feet. Their team raised over two thousand dollars all on their own. Another thanks to the brilliant Brian Mullan for without him none of this would have happened.
