A great start to 2020 for the Trust and its community

We’ve been back in the office now for a couple of weeks and things are in full swing at Youth In Transition. We have had some wonderful fundraising successes already, are looking forward to a great line up of events for our youngsters and the community, plus are already celebrating progress made this year by our young people.

We are truly honoured to walk with our young people on their journeys this year – and we are equally honoured that you choose to help us do that. Thank you once again to all the individuals and organisations who make the support of our young people possible.

Celebrating the Wins!

At the heart of what we do, as always, are our young people; and we celebrate their wins both big and small, standing by their sides. Each small win is another step forward, another step towards building a life worth living. When we hear that one of our young people has started work at a local business, or another has found some long term accommodation – these are the things that lift us up.

In addition to these seemingly ‘everyday’ things, which are in fact huge wins, we also get to celebrate some unique opportunities.

One of our youngsters is currently sailing with the Spirit of Adventure Trust, thanks to Karen Franklin at Harcourts. And another will soon be joining a two week-long Duke of Edinburgh outdoor course on one of the Hauraki Gulf islands, in part thanks to the Lions Club. What incredible adventures these young people will have, and we wish them all the best as they take the next steps on their journeys.

Can you help us at the Get Moving Festival? The Get Moving Festival has once again chosen Youth In Transition as its charity partner, and we’d love some volunteers to help us make the most of this opportunity!

How can you help?
– Enter the event! A donation from every entry will go to the Trust plus supporters of Youth In Transition can get a generous 20% discount on entries. Please email Sian at sian@youthintransition.org.nz for the special discount code.
–  Bake!  At each event Youth In Transition will hold a bake sale, so if you can donate a cake, slice or muffins for us to sell, that would be fabulous thank you. We always sell out!
–  Be a Marshall! This just involves standing at a designated point on the course to ensure the runners and walkers head in the right direction.

Join us at the Golf ‘Fore’ Life Tournament
We are delighted to announce the Golf ‘Fore’ Life Tournament which is being held at Titirangi Golf Club on Tuesday 10th March this year. The tournament aims to raise money for Youth In Transition, enabling us to take on a much needed additional counsellor.

Golf Warehouse is supporting the event, and an additional 10 sponsors are being sought, with contributions of around $1000 each, to help cover the costs and kick off the fundraising. If you are interested in this opportunity – or are able to support financially in any way, or in the way of prizes, please contact the tournament organiser Reno Wijnstok at:  reno.wijnstok@traffitech.nz or on 027 441 4499. Your business will, of course, receive appropriate acknowledgement as the event is promoted.

If you are a keen golfer, we’d love to see you take part! If you’d like more details, please contact Reno as above.

A big thank you to Michelle & Nigel at Tree Solutions for running such a successful fundraiser at the start of January.

They collected used Christmas trees from households on the Coast so they could be recycled into mulch, with 100% of the fee going to Youth In Transition.

Here is Michelle Clough handing over the cheque to Youth In Transition Director, Tina Jones.
