Having a splashing time!Thank you to our three local Rotary Clubs of Orewa, Whangaparaoa and Orewa/Millwater Satellite for their donation of $1000 following the second annual Generation Homes RotarySwimarathon in our community in June. The Rotary Clubs raised sufficient sponsorship to ensure that every cent of every dollar raised by the swimmers is donated to various local charities, and Youth In Transition was thrilled to be selected as one of these. The event was open to all, with fun sessions for mums & bubs through to children, adults and grandparents, plus competitive options. A swim team from Youth in Transition, led by Grayson Nipper, was just one of the 53 teams that swam on Sunday 30th June. Save the date: The next event will be held on Sunday 28th June 2020!
Thank you to Rotary for their continued support.
Chair of the 2019 event, Rotarian Brian Mullan, is seen here presenting the cash award to Tina Jones, with Grayson Nipper looking on.
SafeTALK reaches our community once again
In August, Caroline from A-OK presented the internationally recognised workshop SafeTALK to 35 people at Whangaparaoa Primary. With participants ranging from teachers, principals, parents and community members, it was once again a great reminder that we can all make a huge difference in people’s lives at times when they need help. The workshop is highly recommended if you ever have a chance to take part, as it provides simple tools to use on a daily basis, and can give you the confidence to offer help, where previously you may have hesitated. Thank you to Shared Vision for funding another SafeTALK in our community.

A colourful approach
Our counselling team recently spent time with Mary Ashby-Green, when they learned all about the counselling and coaching tool Colournostics. Colournostics brings together Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and colour psychology, and will help us work with our clients to better articulate problems, pinpoint barriers to moving forward, and help visualise the future they want. It is an amazing tool that we are excited to introduce here at Youth In Transition!
Coastie Christmas – coming soon!
A Very Coastie Christmas is happening again this year in Whangaparaoa to bring everyone together to celebrate, have fun and showcase what a great community we’re part of. On Sunday 8th December 12.30-3pm, various fun activities will be taking place such as face painting and bubble blowing for the kids, live music, stalls to browse and food to enjoy.
The Hope Shop is hosting a ‘pop up’ op shop so come over and say Hello!
Plus Youth In Transition will be running a raffle. With some great prizes up for grabs, we’ll be selling tickets prior to the event, so even if you can’t be there, you won’t miss out. Look out for an email with further info on this in the next couple of weeks.
If you are interested in donating or funding a prize for the raffle, please contact Sian at email@example.com or call her on 022 046 9922 Thank you.
